James P. Mullin (1907 – 1997) was born and raised in Franklin County, Indiana. After undergraduate, graduate, and law schools, he worked in the East before moving back to Brookville to practice law. He shared his love and knowledge of the county and its people with his wife an four daughters as he visited with people and traveled the many roads of the county.
Jim was very involved with numerous local, regional, and state organizations throughout his life. With the encouragement of Jack Ronald, then president of the Portland Foundation, Jim worked to establish The Brookville Foundation. In 1956, the foundation officially began with its first gift, a $1000 donation from the Jay Garment Company.*
